โ˜… Certified Running Technique Specialists โ€” Frome

Still getting injured? Never quite hitting your times? The problem might be how you run.

FixMyRun Frome are Certified Running Technique Specialists, not a running club, not a physio, not a personal trainer. We analyse exactly how your body moves when you run, identify what’s causing your problem, and teach you to run differently. In six sessions, most runners notice a fundamental change.

Injured Runners

  • Keep getting hurt no matter how carefully you train?
  • The same injury keeps coming back, hamstring, knee, shin, Achilles?
  • Been told you need surgery, or to stop running altogether?
  • Recovered physically but your running doesn’t feel right anymore?

Performance Runners

  • Training hard but your times aren’t moving?
  • Running feels effortful, heavy, or inefficient compared to others?
  • Want to run faster, further, or with less effort?
  • Preparing for a race and want a genuine edge?

This is not what you think it is

Not a coach. Not Personal Training. Something more specific.

Most runners who come to us have already tried the obvious things. They’ve rested, stretched, foam-rolled, seen a physio, bought better shoes, and followed training plans. The problem keeps coming back. Or the times don’t move. The reason is almost always the same: the way they run, not how far or how fast, but the mechanics of each stride.

Biomechanical Analysis

Full biomechanical video analysis by a qualified Podiatrist. We film exactly how you run, then identify the specific movement faults causing your problem.

Neurological Retraining

DMSยฎ methodology reprograms brain movement patterns, not just the muscles. Based on neuroscience and accelerated learning principles.

Measurable Results

Most notice meaningful change within 3 sessions. By session 6 the new pattern feels natural. Injury risk reduced, efficiency improved.

Why Abi’s background makes this different

Abi Green โ€” Director, FixMyRun Frome
BSc (Hons) Pod.Med. RCPod ยท MSc Professional Practice ยท CRTS

Most running technique services are led by coaches with a performance background, people who were good at running and learned to teach it. Abi brings something fundamentally different. She qualified as a Podiatrist in 1997 and spent over two decades working across NHS and private clinical settings, with a deep focus on biomechanics, footwear, and movement rehabilitation.

That clinical foundation is what makes FixMyRun Frome’s approach genuinely different from a running coach who has learned some technique cues. When Abi looks at how you run, she is drawing on 25 years of biomechanical and clinical experience, identifying movement dysfunction at a level that goes beyond what most coaches are trained to see.

“Abi has herself recovered from injury and re-learned how to run, thanks to the FixMyRun methodology. She doesn’t just teach it, she has lived it.”

Who we help

Two types of runner. One root cause.

Almost every runner we see falls into one of two groups, though the underlying issue is usually the same.

Runners with Recurring Injuries

  • Recurring shin splints, stress fractures, or compartment syndrome
  • Achilles tendinopathy or plantar fasciitis that keeps returning
  • Runner’s knee (patellofemoral pain) or ITB syndrome
  • Hamstring or calf strains that recur despite rest and treatment
  • Hip and glute pain affecting your gait
  • Returning from injury and not feeling ‘right’ yet
  • Told surgery is the only option and want to explore alternatives

Runners Who Want to Perform Better

  • Times have plateaued despite consistent training
  • Running feels heavy, laboured, or inefficient
  • Preparing for a specific race and want a technical edge
  • Recreational runners targeting a first half or full marathon
  • Beginners wanting to start with correct technique from day one
  • Club runners wanting to break a long-standing PB
  • Youth Athletes who just donโ€™t seem to be able to run properly
  • Children and Young Adults that want to unlock the next level of their potential

“I’d been told my shin splints were just something I’d have to manage. After three sessions with Abi I understood for the first time why they kept happening. By session six they were gone and they haven’t come back.”

Common Questions

Questions about running technique coaching, answered

Is this the same as having a running coach?

No, and this distinction matters. A traditional running coach plans your training schedule and goes out running with you. FixMyRun works specifically on the mechanics of how you run, the movement patterns, biomechanics, and neurological habits that determine how efficiently and safely your body moves with each stride. Sessions take place at our Frome base, not out on the road. Think of it as closer to a movement clinic than a coaching relationship.

Is this the same as gait analysis at a running shop?

No. The gait analysis at a running shop takes 10 to 15 minutes and is designed to help you choose a shoe. Our Biomechanical Running Assessment is a full clinical analysis carried out by a qualified Podiatrist that identifies the root cause of your injury or inefficiency, produces a detailed findings report, and forms the basis of a structured programme. The level of detail, clinical expertise, and rigour is incomparable.

I've seen a physio but my injury keeps returning. Can you help?

Very possibly. Physiotherapy typically addresses the injury itself, the tissue damage, inflammation, or structural problem. What it often doesn’t address is why the injury happened in the first place. If the movement pattern that caused the injury is still present when you return to running, the injury will return. We address the cause, not just the consequence.

Do I need to be actively running to start?

Not necessarily. Many clients come to us during an injury lay-off, before they’ve returned to running. In some cases we can begin technique work before you’re back to full running. The free call-back with Abi will help us understand where you are and what’s possible at this stage.

How quickly will I see results?

Most runners notice a meaningful change in how their running feels within the first 3 sessions. By the end of a 6-session block, the new patterns typically begin to feel natural rather than effortful. Deeper or longer-standing movement habits take longer to retrain, which is why longer programmes are available for more complex cases.

Why does Abi's podiatry background matter for running technique?

Abi has spent over 25 years looking at how the body moves, specifically feet, gait, and the biomechanical chain from the ground up. That clinical foundation means she identifies movement dysfunction at a level that goes beyond what most coaches are trained to see. For injured runners especially, having a clinician rather than just a coach assess your movement makes a significant difference to the quality of the analysis and the programme design.

Why do sessions work better in pairs than one-to-one?

This is based on how the brain learns motor skills most effectively. Observing another person perform a movement, and then practising it yourself, accelerates the neurological learning process. It also builds in a natural rest period that allows the nervous system to consolidate the new pattern. One-to-one is available on request, but paired sessions deliver better results for the majority of clients.
